BJP leaders push for Sameer Wankhede extension to NCB: Nawab Malik
In a sensational accusation, NCP chief spokesman Nawab Malik said on Sunday that some influential Maharashtra BJP leaders were pushing for an extension of Sameer Wankhede in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The BJP, however, denied the allegations of Malik, who is the Minister for Minority Affairs in the government of Maha Vikas Aghadi.
The mandate of BCN Wankhede, an officer of the 2008 batch of the Indian Tax Service, ended on December 31, 2021.
“Wankhede’s term ended on December 31 … Why was he not relieved of his post or extended? Why was he suspended? Malik asked.
He then asked for details of the vigilance investigation carried out against him by the NCB and the results of the NCB’s special investigation team.
“What happened to these probes? ” He asked
“… some influential BJP leaders in Mumbai and Maharashtra are lobbying the Interior Ministry in New Delhi to request an extension for Wankhede,” Malik said, however, he did not name anyone.

Meanwhile, opposition leader in council Pravin Darekar has refuted the allegations. “Malik kept making baseless allegations … these are baseless,” he said, adding that there were five or six libel cases against him.
BJP’s Mohit Kamboj Bharatiya also said Malik’s claims were baseless and frivolous.
Wankhede was appointed NCB Mumbai Area Director following the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and received a few extensions. In the past, he had worked with the BCN, customs and the Directorate of Tax Intelligence.
His current tenure with the NCB has sparked controversy, particularly after the cruise ship Cordelia raid on October 2-3, 2021 in which Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was among 20 people. arrested. Khan was released on bail by the Bombay High Court.
