A reluctant hero-turned-bear saves Earth from an alien invasion in a new novel

The story takes readers on an escape and rescue mission to another alien dimension.

LEXINGTON, South Carolina, October 31, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Dr. Michael Townsenda genomics researcher, just wants to study the mammalian genome but, incidentally, becomes a pawn in an alien strategy game in a new sci-fi novel by the author Whit Haney.

In “Dimensions: The Game Quarks Play,” readers follow the exploits of Dr. Townsend as he falls ill, then heals himself with an ultimate treatment that transforms him into “Knight Bear.” He soon learns that aliens from another dimension, formed from quarks – random subatomic particles, have murdered his wife and abducted 41 other people.

“After 35 years as a full-time pharmacist, I thought a career change was in order,” Haney said. “So why not write a science fiction novel? It made sense to me, even though I’ve never been known as a conventional thinker.

After becoming the Bear Knight, Dr. Townsend learns that the same aliens have also abducted his research partner. After using his scientific training, Dr. Townsend escapes and tries to save and bring everyone back to Earth.

“It’s light sci-fi and different from today’s dystopian fare,” Haney concluded. “I tried to inject humor through the character’s flaws, without using gratuitous foul language. I want this to read as pure fiction and a fun story that everyone can enjoy.”
